Hummus using Chickpea

Yay It's Friday! It seemed like it took too long to get here since the last friday. With the hectic schedules, sickness loaded week, doctor's visits, sleepless nights..ufff. So this friday was so looked forward to. Not that we had to go for a trip or have fun over the weekend but just to sit back and breath.

We usually do have family movie nights on friday's. When I say movie nights I should be specific that movies are ALWAYS animation. For some reason the lil one just won't sit for movies that has human appearance. He clearly is someone who prefers imagination over reality. Anyways, to have something to munch on while we watch the movie is a bonus. This hummus is something that is perfect for such movie nights. Healthy, easy to put together and loved by the family, what else do we need. If you have pita bread, have it toasted to pair with this dip. You could also have some veggies or chips too to go with it.

Ingredients
  1. 1 cup of cooked/canned chickpea, drained
  2. 3 tsbp of tahini
  3. 2 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil
  4. 1 tbsp of lemon juice
  5. 1 clove of garlic, chopped
  6. 1/2 tsp of pepper powder
  7. Salt to taste
  8. A pinch of paprika
Method
  • Combine the ingredients 1-7 in a food processor.
  • Process it into a smooth paste, by scraping down the sides when required and pulsing it again.
  • Remove it into a serving bowl. Scoop in some olive oil on top and sprinkle the paprika over it.
  • Serve it with some pita chips or veggies.
Tips
  1. Removing the skin off the chickpea could help get a smoother hummus.
  2. Reserving some of the water from the cooked chickpeas is a good idea. Using a couple of spoons while grinding the chickpea could help thin it out and help get a smoother texture.
