Tutti Fruiti Cookies

When its the happiest time of the year, you got to cook something that would look happy too. These cookies bring out that prettiness in the form of mosaic pattern of red, green and yellow that makes it so perfect to bake in this season.

Not just in its looks, they taste great too. Moreover, it is very easy to make. I usually do these for parties, where in I just make and chill the dough the previous day so that all I got to do is just slice and pop it in the oven on the day of the party. That way I don't have to deal with the messier part of making these cookies. At the same time, serve these cookies fresh for the party.

Ingredients
  1. 1 stick of softened unsalted butter
  2. 1/3 cup of sugar
  3. 1/2 tsp of Orange zest
  4. 3/4 cup of tutti fruiti
  5. 3/4 tsp fo vanilla extract
  6. A pinch of salt
  7. 1 cup of flour
Method
  • Beat the softened butter and sugar untill creamy. Add the orange zest, tutti fruiti, vanilla extract, salt and flour.
  • Beat it again untill combined.
  • Remove the dough on to the counter top and shape it into a log of about 1 1/2 inch in thickness. Wrap it in a cling wrap and chill it in the refrigerator for about an hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 F.
  • Slice the dough log into cookies of even thickness and spread it on a baking sheet.
  • Bake it in the oven for about 12-15 minutes or untill they are golden brown around the edges.
  • Remove it onto a wired rack to cool down before you store it in a air tight container.
Tips
  1. Chilling the dough helps to let the dough turn firm to help in cutting it evenly. So do not skip on that one.
  2. If using salted butter, avoid adding the salt in the recipe.

Honey BBQ Chicken Nuggets

No matter what the sport is, I never follow it unless its the finals. It stands true for the World cup Cricket or the Olympics or Football or any other sport. I would have no idea which match people would be talking about if it comes up in a conversation. But seeing me watch the finals with great enthusiasm would make people think, that I might have been following the match from the start. I think I really do not have the patience to keep waiting or look forward to matches every now and then. It stands true for tv shows too. I love movies which starts and ends on the same day in a matter of hours rather than watch an episode of a serial and keep wondering or worrying what would happen in the next.

Anyways, now that Super Bowl is tomorrow, I thought I should post a recipe that you would love to have while you catch up on the game. Isn't it fun to pair such events with food that each one of us like?

Jeera Rice

There are times when you have people visiting around dinner or lunch time. And you get confused what to serve them with, when you might have prepared/decided to keep a simple dinner for your family and also have very less time to be creating something very jazzy. So in case, plain rice was on your family menu and you are not happy to be serving the same for you guests, just a simple seasoning could lift that simple rice to be a very simple yet a crowd pleasing one.

For me, my toddler has certain picky days when he would refuse the common or usual family menu items and to make it interesting for him, I convert a small portion of cooked rice into flavored rice for him to enjoy.

Mango Salsa

With the weather getting better, you might be planning for a barbecue party. For any party or get together, this summer, this Mango Salsa would be just perfect to include in the menu. This is one thing that could be made in just minutes time, when you have many other things to worry about. And its least likely that anyone would not like it. At our home, at the very sight of it, everyone just digs into it.

Serve it with some tacos, chips or nachos or may be just like a salad. they make one amazing starter.
