Watermelon Juice

I dislike Summer. Its hot. Its dusty. It drains away energy from me. Mangoes and watermelons are what makes me love it a bit. When you get back from a days outing, all tired, a glass of mango shake/ mango lassi or plain lassi or watermelon juice could just refresh me up and help me gain back the energy.

I used to love the way they arrange the watermelons and mangoes underneath a stall roofed with palm leaves, during summer. And its so strategically placed at the entrance of the store, that you just can't miss picking them up even though you might have forgotten to write it down on your grocery list. So we ended up buying it on every grocery shopping.

Jordan also loves munching on it. He loves the juice too. I had planned to shoot pics using two glasses of watermelon juice and one is missing, because someone just wasn't patience enough for mama to be done with the shoot. So as Jacob was helping him drink the juice, I quickly wrapped up everything.

Ingredients
  1. 2 glasses of watermelon cubed
  2. 1 tbsp of sugar / honey
  3. Ice cubes as required
Method
  • In a blender, blend the watermelon cubes and sugar/honey just untill the juice gets extracted from the watermelon.
  • Strain through a strainer or sieve to remove the seeds and the pulp.
  • Serve it in a glass, having added ice cubes, as desired.
Tips
  1. Try using fresh watermelon to make the juice. It definitely tastes better than made from watermelon which might have been stored in the refrigerator.
  2. I don't usually add sugar in it these days as Jordan wants a big share of it. I don't want to unnecessarily fill him up with sugar. But sugarless version is also good. You may try avoiding sugar if you are on a diet.

  1. Haha... one glass is enough for the shoot, mama... :D The girls home too love watermelon, no juicing though, instead we have it mashed form, which is a family favorite, I have shared it on the blog last Ramadan... :)
