Grilled Vegetable Sandwich

When my brother and sis-in-law visited us the first time(2 years back this time..he he ...It took me 2 long years to pen this post), they had gifted us with a grill- George Foreman grill. We grilled chicken on it the same day. It was so yumm. But those were the initial days  of my morning sickness(well, the term 'morning' should be replaced with 'Day long' in my case). If you have suffered with it ever, then you would know how one may start hating things they once loved. Exactly that's what happened with me. I couldn't stand the look of the grill, as it would make me sick. Yeah, it was that bad for me. Now, why am I telling it all now. Because, that is the very reason why I delayed this post.

After that stage of pregnancy, we dusted off the grill and made grilled sandwich. It tasted amazing. There were days when I used to have it for breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. I used to love it and so did anyone, who was served with it. Since then I have been meaning to do this post. Pictures were clicked and post was ready but somehow, it got hid between my drafts and I had to dig it out today when suddenly the craving to have a grilled sandwich hit me. Thank god for the craving, this post got published :P

This is a quick fix for you hunger, for your craving, for serving something delicious to your guest at the same time something guilt free to indulge in. So make your own grilled sandwich and indulge.

Ingredients
  1. 3 whole wheat bread slices
  2. 4-5 slices of Cucumber
  3. 4-5 slices of Tomato
  4. 6-7 slices of avacado
  5. Butter spread as required
  6. Salt and pepper to taste
Method
  • Apply butter on either sides of each slice of bread
  • Line the sliced avacado on one of the bread slices. Sprinkle salt and pepper as per taste. Top it with another bread slice. Now line the sliced tomato and cucumber. Sprinkle salt and pepper as per taste. Now top it with the last slice of bread.
  • Heat up the grill/toaster. Once hot place the sandwich in it and grill/toast it for about 7 minutes or untill its surface turns golden brown and crisp.
  • Remove it from the grill/toaster and serve it hot with some ketchup.

Tips
  1. I used this grill to make this sandwich but if you happen to have a toaster, then you could make it in it.
  2. Mashing up the avacado and adding salt and pepper as required is another way of spreading it inside the sandwich. However, it makes the sandwich a little soggy rather than crisp. Go by the method you would like to have avacado in your sandwich.
  3. You could cut short the consumption of butter by just spreading it only on the outer layer of sandwich and not inside.
