Lettuce wraps

Lettuce wraps are a must to order when we are at P F Chang's. We love it. Every bite is so refreshing with the crunchy lettuce and made yummy with the filling in it.

I just wanted to recreate something similar at home. Couple of times that we made earlier were not that great. Finally this version seemed to be getting much more closer to the ones that we usually have.

We were so glad with this result and loved it that it just vanished. I too felt satisfied and happy that trying it again and again did pay a good result.

Ingredients
  1. 1 lb / 1/2 kg of chicken breast, cleaned and finely cubed
  2. 1 cup of finely diced onions
  3. 3/4 tbsp of minced garlic
  4. 3/4 tbsp of minced ginger
  5. 2 tbsp of cooking oil
  6. 1 tbsp of soya sauce
  7. 1 tsp of vinegar
  8. 2 tbsp of hot sauce
  9. 3-4 tbsp of diced celery
  10. 2 tbsp of chopped cilantro
  11. 2 tbsp of chopped spring onion
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Washed and drained lettuce leaves

Method
  • Heat a skillet. Add cooking oil to it. Once hot add the minced garlic, ginger, onion and salt. Stir it and let the onion turn tender.
  • Add the diced chicken and stir it. Once half cooked, add ingredients 6-9 and mix it well for the sauce to spread evenly. Cook it, till the chicken is done. Remove it to a bowl and garnish it with cilantro leaves and spring onion.
  • Serve it with fresh lettuce leaves.

Tips
  1. You could use minced chicken as well for this recipe.
  2. Adjust the amount of hot sauce as you require.
  3. Do not overcook the chicken. It tastes good if it is cooked in such a way that you can bite into them.

  3. Hi Palabaram,

Funny that san choy bao is not the typical food that most Chinese eat in Asian counties... I got to know this dish only when I start living in Australia and I'm loving it.

You have made yours very well :D You must be enjoying the crunch of this dish.

yesterday was Avikuttan's seventh birthday. made your lettuce wraps fillings. sadly, could not get lettuce anywhere in Pala, though Reliance is filled with them every time I don't need it! so, served in canopies! they were yum! and simple and easy.
