Peanut Chutney (Dry version)

The idea of a very fulfilling breakfast for me would be Idli/Dosa with some chutney. Simple yet very delicious and it does please the South Indian in me. It never seems monotonous if we keep switching between the chutneys that we eat with the dosa/idli. We have chutney fans here in our home and I can always have the dosa/idli batter handy and be ready to just feed them with just some chutney done.

This peanut chutney is one among the many chutneys that we make to have with dosa and its so flavourful and delicious that even the little one keeps asking for more. I do make it less spicy for my kido. if you would want to spice it up as per your taste, just increase the amount of chillies that goes into it.

Rava Dosa / Rava Onion Dosa

I am a breakfast person. Just can't skip it. Its in the morning that I am hungry the most. Infact, its the hunger that wakes me up. Even though it is a holiday, my eyes just open early. In a way its good, I get to make food and photograph it in the most appropriate time of the day, when the light is just perfect. And I don't have to rush through the photography as there is no one waiting hungry out there. I don't know if it is the hunger that makes most of my breakfast items seem to be very tasty to me and are my favorites. I have infact liked it the most since I was a kid. I don't mind if it is parathas from the north or idli-dosa from the south or pancakes from the west. I love all of them.

This rava dosa is one saviour on those days when I am hungry the most and have no clue what to make. With just simple ingredients available in the pantry they make way for the most amazing breakfast. I remember the first time I made it. It was a disaster. I just took it to be the same as our regular dosa and made the batter thick that it was just a lump of cooked rava. But with years and thankfully those youtube video, I can now make them and it is a family favorite.

Ragi Paniyaram

Day turns out to be good, if you started good. For me, if I have managed to have a good breakfast, day goes good. Its a bonus if I get some time to make something special, which is on weekends, since all are off from school and work and get up late, which gives me enough time to make something else if my hopefully interesting recipes turns out to be a disaster.

On weekdays too, we make variety of breakfast other than just cereals or sandwiches, which helps me not to deal with the tantrum of lil one wanting for something different and ignoring to eat what is offered. Well, I have the luxury of being a stay at home mom, if I may say so, which lets me plan a variety of breakfast option, so why not do it right?

Masala Dosa/ Masala Dosa Mix

A dosa center, whether it be at a mall or on the streets, is always packed with customers. Well, who doesn't love it. Pair it with some filter coffee and it is so yumm and heavenly. Now, to have dosa / masala dosa , you don't have to just wait to go to a restaurant to enjoy that dosa. You could just make it at home and enjoy it with family, at the comfort of your own home.

When we first got hold of this recipe, we just made it every other weekend. We were so fond of it. Those memories of going into the Indian Coffee House to relish on those amazingly crisp dosas over an excuse of birthdays or get together or a treat, was brought back when we recreated it at home. If you belong to our generation then you would understand what I am talking about, because these days, its all about the burgers, pizzas and fried chicken. Anyways, if you are a Masala Dosa fan or addict like me, you got to try it at home. I bet you would be hooked.

Paniyaram / Kuzhi Paniyaram

I never had an appe pan before having Jordan . With the thought of making miniature food for him, I bought this pan and ever since I have never archived it. Every now and then I keep making something or the other in it. The shapes come out in small ball shapes that Jordan loves having it and I love seeing him have with a smile with every bite. I know that excitement is not gonna last long and there would come a stage when I might have to be innovative everyday.

Paniyarams are one big hit at our home. Everytime I have some left over idli batter, I have to make it. And there are no leftovers of  this paniyaram ever. Everyone loves it.

Capsicum Chutney / Bell pepper Chutney

Belonging to Southern part of India means, you definitely would have a soft corner for idli/dosa. For me, I wouldn't mind having it for any meal of the day. Bringing in variety in the usual combination makes it even more interesting.

I was not introduced to any other chutneys to go with Idli/dosa other than the red coconut chutney and the chana dal chutney. But thanks to so many blogger friends from across the globe and the blogging community that I have been a part of, I got introduced to variety of food. This capsicum chutney was introduced to me by the blogging world.

Multi Dal Dosa

After a short while of having started the blog, I realized that I need to keep a watch on the intake of food both in means of quality and quantity. A closer look on the visible( increasing pounds in the weighing machine) as well as the hidden facts(increase in the vital stats) scared me to take that decision.

Now with a kid, who is a picky eater on most of the days, else on a hunger strike, I am really cautious of not giving up to the temptation of feeding him those fast food or junk foods which he may fall for. The conscious decision makes me try new recipes every now and then to bring about a balanced diet. I saw this recipe shared by a food lover on one of the food community and noted it down to try it. They were super hit at home. It might sound an overdose of dal, but trust me it's good stuff and tastes yumm too.
