Malar Unda/ Pori Ladoo

I still remember the first time I ate Pori Ladoo. One of the peon uncles from my father's office has asked to come to their home and it being a chance for us as kids to see the farms and the crops they cultivate etc., my father took us one day. They served us with these pori ladoos. Those were huge in size. I was glad that they were huge, because we were taught to be decent and just pick one when offered and don't just hog over the entire plate of it when served. So the huge one was equivalent to eating three actually :). Ever since we returned, I used to nag my mother to make it at home. And then one day my mother made it.

The other day, me and Jordan stepped into an Indian store to grab some rusk and tea biscuits for Big J, being down with fever. I was in a hurry to get back home and my lil guy kept on checking out everything kept in the isle and asking me what it is. When he landed on the pack of pori ladoo he was like "Mama, can I get it?" Immediately, I had the flash back of my childhood when I asked my mother to make it. We didn't get the pori ladoo though but I promised I shall make it for him and we made it the same day. Seeing him relish, I was assured he has my genes too :D. Anyways, coming back to Pori Ladoo, if you love these ladoos and crave for them, try making it at home. They can be made in no time.

Mango Ladoo

There are umpty ways to relish the mangoes. As soon as they appear in the market, we get so excited to have them. My lil one hates all fruits but mangoes and pears. So I try not to make him overloaded with mangoes in just one form, that he starts hating them too. So every time he is served with it, there is some variety. It could be some drink or dessert or salad etc. This mango ladoo was just another version.

One day, after having lil J put to nap, I returned to the kitchen, just to find Big J searching the entire pantry to find something sweet to eat. Now a sweet craving is very unusual of him. I was looking for some reason to finish off the condensed milk left in the refrigerator. I had some dry coconut powder too and mangoes are always found at home, during summer. So I quickly made this 3 ingredients ladoo, which we happily munched on and had some left over to be chilled too.

Coconut Ladoo / Indian Coconut Macaroon for a win !

Anything sweet with coconut in it , tops my list of favorites. Love those Bounty chocolates which has the richness of chocolate combined with the goodness of coconut. Coconut ladoos is a very close competitor to the bounty chocolates. Love the ease with which they are done. I have used a very shortcut method, which will help you make the ladoos  in just minutes to enjoy it.

Ellunda / Sesame seed ladoo / Til ke Ladoo

I have always been a fan of it. So when Papa mummy visited us, I asked them to get it. Now once you trigger your taste buds of the long forgotten taste of this ladoo, instead of calming down the craving, it gets doubled. 

Its just one of those cravings that hit me, which resulted in multiple visits to the Indian store. Every time I was there they had ran out of stock for these Ellunda.  So finally I gave up. After all its just a matter of 3-4 ingredients combining together to make these. So I bought the ingredients and made it at home. 

Ladoo

Ladoo - another Indian sweet, that is close to our hearts. May it be a festival, or any other happy occasion - personal or professional, ladoos are a must to be served to share the happiness. Its after having seen the English Vinglish movie that I got an idea to try these :).

                      

It was like turning my promise of making it, a reality. Yeah, I had been asking my husband, if he liked ladoo and everytime the answer would be a big YES. One day he asked me if I really had the intention of making it or was I just making him tempt for it. Now when you are questioned like that , would you give up? Well, in my case, the next day there were ladoos at home when he was back from work.
