It was like turning my promise of making it, a reality. Yeah, I had been asking my husband, if he liked ladoo and everytime the answer would be a big YES. One day he asked me if I really had the intention of making it or was I just making him tempt for it. Now when you are questioned like that , would you give up? Well, in my case, the next day there were ladoos at home when he was back from work.

Ladoo - another Indian sweet, that is close to our hearts. May it be a festival, or any other happy occasion - personal or professional, ladoos are a must to be served to share the happiness. Its after having seen the English Vinglish movie that I got an idea to try these :).

Pound Cake
Yesterday when I opened our snack box, it was almost empty. Cake was something that had not been at our home for some time now. So I revisited the bake section in my to-bake list. The pound cake - yes, it had been something that I wanted to try for a while, being the most simplest cake ever and our favourite too. These remind me of the tea cakes that we used to get at Tom & Jerry Bakery in Bangalore. Hmm...I loved it.
Traditionally pound cakes were named so, because most of the ingredients that go into it were measured in pounds. But these days people don't usually go by that measure as the cakes get heavier. To make it light and spongy, some alteration needs to be made in the proportion of ingredients.

Neyyappam ~ Vishu special
Wishing you all a very Happy Vishu!
Vishu - Malayalis newyear - is here. What have you been up to? Did you put up a Vishukkani? Well, we made Neyyappam here and that was our Vishu special. I did try to hunt for Kanni konna but no luck. As a kid, the main attraction of Vishu used to be crackers, movie series in TV, get together of cousins and ofcourse payasam. This time we had to restrict it to Neyyappams..not bad ehh..
Do you like Neyyappams? I love them. After I had made the batter and let it sit for 2-3 hours, the smell of melted jaggery was so tempting that I wanted to make it as soon as possible. I can't blame myself because it had been sooo long since I had them. Well here is the recipe to it. Hope you like it and try it.

Parippuvada!!!
Its raining!
What best could one do on a rainy day? Hot parippuvada with a steaming cup of coffee/tea..hmm my mouth is getting watery with the very thought of it. Some people like having parippuvada as it is , but for me having it with bananas makes me feel content.
These remind me of the childhood days when we used to travel by train to kerala to spend our summer vacations. The train would reach Palakkad station and the noise of the chaiwala's would wake you up. The Parripuvadas and Pazham poris would be in the scene, offered with a small glass of chai.
